Chidera Mbaogu
ILA Nigeria — Committee on AI & Technology Law
Chidera Theodora Mbaogu is an Associate at Kenna LP, a leading commercial law firm based in Lagos, Nigeria, where she practises across litigation, corporate law, Data Protection, and arbitration. She advises domestic and institutional clients on complex commercial disputes and transactional matters and contributes actively to legal knowledge development within the firm.
Beyond her core practice, Chidera has developed a distinctive focus on data protection law and technology governance. She has advised on AI policies and ethical frameworks, including policy development and review for institutional clients, and has facilitated training on artificial intelligence and its responsible use. Her work at the intersection of data protection and emerging technology reflects a growing conviction that the governance of AI cannot be meaningfully addressed without robust data protection frameworks, an area she continues to explore with both practical and scholarly rigour.
Chidera is particularly interested in the convergence of data protection law and artificial intelligence, and the implications of that convergence for Nigeria's regulatory landscape and broader participation in global technology governance. She brings to the ILA Nigeria Committee on AI and Technology Law a practitioner's perspective grounded in lived experience advising on the legal and ethical dimensions of AI adoption.
